Cameras and displays for digital video and images are designed with chips to do their
processing. Video chips, in turn, depend on hardware designs that are licensed as
semiconductor intellectual property (IP cores). IP cores are designed for digital video
encoders, decoders, transcoders, codecs, image signal processors, preprocessors, scalers,
deinterlacers, frame rate converters, and other digital video and image processing
functions.
